Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer to win 5th Wimbledon title

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic captured his fifth crown at the Wimbledon Championships on Sunday (July 14) with a thrilling 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12(3) victory over second seed Roger Federer, the eight-time former titlist from Switzerland, in four hours and 55 minutes on Centre Court.
“This was, if not the most exciting and thrilling final I have ever been a part of, at least one of the top two or three in my career against one of the greatest players of all time, Roger, who I respect a lot,” Djokovic said afterwards.
Federer was bidding for his record-extending ninth title but was denied by the Serbian tennis ace in the five-set thriller.
