Kohima, May 31 (NE): Today is World No Tobacco Day and the theme for this year is “Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use”.
Statistics reveal that one (1) person dies every six (6) seconds due to tobacco related illnesses globally.
District Tobacco Control Cell, Dimapur, has released a short video which is made for a cause and to raise awareness on how to prevent the use of tobacco among youths.
According to a data by Nagaland School Oral Health Survey 2013-2014, it indicated that 41.2% school children are still buying tobacco products for their relatives and parents. A survey in 2009 revealed that nearly 15% of youth currently use tobacco in India.
Through the video, the Dimapur Tobacco Control cell appealed all to make an effort to free our future generation from the clutches of tobacco, and give our youth an addiction free environment.
