Security Forces Foil a Major Terrorist Strike In Tinsukia

Regional, October 8 (NE): Joint team of Indian Army and Tinsukia police, averted an attempt by insurgents to trigger a blast in the Tinsukia district by apprehending a cadre of ULFA(I) and recovering large quantity of explosives today, October 8, 2019.

Regular intelligence inputs were being received from various intelligence agencies regarding the plans of ULFA(I) cadres to carry out bomb blasts in Upper Assam and attack security forces with an aim to revive their diminishing influence.

After sustained and relentless efforts, hard work and perseverance, a break through was achieved on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 when the Joint team from the Indian Army and Tinsukia Police based on specific intelligence launched multiple Mobile vehicle check points in the general area of Chikrajan district, Tinsukia. This resulted in apprehension of SS sergeant Sabdo Asom Jonki Bora of ULFA (I). The joint team also recovered electronic detonators, remote control and 10 kg of TNT explosive during the operation.

The success of this operation has averted a major threat and helped in saving many innocent lives.

Indian Army has been carrying out relentless operations in Upper Assam against the ULFA(I). The recovery of these explosives and the apprehension of Senior insurgents, has struck a major blow to the proscribed group in the region. The operations have tightened the noose around the group and has brought relief to the local population, said in a press release from Eastern Command, IA.
