NSCN (IM) clarifies on the fabricated story of alleged shootout projected by Manipur police

Kohima, November 08 (NEx): The NSCN (IM) said that the alleged shootout between the Manipur police/Assam Rifles and NSCN cadres in Bishnupur district in Manipur on Saturday, November 07, 2020, whereby two NSCN cadres namely Mr. Jaiolen Chiru and Mr. Jenthaingam Longmei were reported to be injured and hospitalized, is a fabricated story projected by the Manipur Police.

The NSCN in a press Statement on Sunday, November 8, 2020 clarified that there was no encounter whatsoever and recovery of arms and ammunitions by the Manipur police are baseless and added that it is surprising when a fabricated story was projected by the Manipur Police regarding the alleged shootout between the Manipur police/Assam Rifles and NSCN cadres in Bishnupur district in Manipur.

Narrating the incident, the NSCN in it’s release said, “What actually happened was that the Manipur police personnel along with the AR personnel came in civvies and surrounded the house where the NSCN members were staying and caught the them by surprise with a volley of indiscriminate firing, resulting in the injury of the two NSCN cadres”.

The two injured NSCN cadres were reportedly admitted to the hospital by the Manipur police awaiting their formal arrest upon recovery.

Also, the allegation levelled by the Assam Police against NSCN member Mr. Khampai W and Mr. Khunghee Mikkam who were arrested last Friday in Tezpur, Assam is not factually correct, the press release said. They were never in possession of arms and ammos and have no connection with the ambush on Assam Rifles personnel in Nagaland as alleged by the Assam Police in the media, it added.

NSCN also stated that such baseless charges levelled against NSCN members are refuted outright, and said that Manipur Police and Assam Police should refrain from inventing cooked up stories to suit their interest.
