Kohima, April 19 (NE): Manipur to be Covid-19 free state as the second patient undergoing treatment at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has reported negative of Novel Corona Virus disease.
Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh tweeted, ‘Good news: the second Covid-19 patient who is undergoing treatment at RIMS, Imphal has reported negative of Novel Corona Virus disease. Now Manipur has zero positive case of Covid-19 as on date as the two cases of Manipur have been reported negative.’

A press release issued by Govt of Manipur, Covid-19 common control room by Dr. Kh. Sasheekumar Mangang, Addl. Director (MD) & Spokesperson, said, the second Covid-19 case was tested at VRDLs of RIMS and JNIMS and the results came out negative. He will be discharged soon if the next test result is also negative, he added.
Meanwhile, the first COVID-19 patient, 23-year-old woman who tested positive for Covid-19 in Manipur last month, has recovered and was discharged from the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) on Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Till date, Manipur has reported two positive cases for Covid-19. While the third test results of second patient is awaited for the final confirmation, Manipur to be a Covid-19 free state if the results turns out negative.
