Kohima, January 23 (NEx): To ensure and enhance the quality of life of 05 physically disabled people in the region, Changlang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) distributed wheel chairs to the physically challenged, walking sticks to the blind and hearing aids to hearing impaired individuals on January 21st, 2021.
The PRO HQ IGAR (North) in a press release informed that during interactions with villagers and GBs of various villages in the area, the need for such medical assistance had been enumerated and the battalion took the initiative and identified basic requirements of the needs of people in its area of responsibility and provided them with medical assistance in the form of wheel chairs, walking sticks and hearing aids.
The event organised at Battalion Headquarters, Changlang was graced by Shri Tesam Pongte, Hon’ble Deputy
Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly as the Chief Guest, who appreciated the efforts of the Battalion for welfare and development of the people in the region, the release said.
The PRO also said that the project was conceptualized and completed as a part of Assam Rifles Civic Action Project for the current year. Assam Rifles have always been committed to various development projects of the remote areas of North East and have been providing basic amenities to local populace.
Further, the villagers expressed their gratitude and appreciated this initiative of the Battalion. The event concluded with tea and light refreshments for all, the press release said.
