Kohima, May 13 (NE): 1141 stranded citizens of Manipur have reached Jiribam Railway station from Chennai by a special train at around 12.20 pm today, May 13, 2020.
Taking to twitter, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, ‘the Manipur Government has started sending them to their respective districts and Assembly Constituencies for compulsory screening and testing under COVID-19 Protocol and 14 days quarantine at designated institutional and community quarantine centres across the State’- unquote.

The special train carrying stranded citizens of Manipur, including students, working professionals, patients departed from Chennai Central Railway Station on Sunday, May 10, 2020.
Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Tuesday said, ‘Government will leave no stone unturned to bring back every Manipuris who wish to be back at home. Equally, people from other states living in Manipur who wish to return home will be provided safe and smooth travel to their home town in coordination with Union government and State governments’ – unquote.
Chief secretary of Manipur J. Suresh Babu said that family members of the passengers would not be able to meet the passengers at the station or the quarantine centres.
Manipur Government is planning to bring back its stranded citizens from Punjab Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh by special train, said a report.
