Sunil Chhetri overtakes Messi to become Second highest international goalscorer

Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri, for the second time this year, overtook Lionel Messi to become the second-highest international goalscorer among active players when he scored a fourth-minute penalty against Tajikistan in the Intercontinental Cup on Sunday.

Indian skipper Chhetri scored 69 international goals to go second on the list of most international goalscorer.

While Cristiano Ronaldo with 88 international goals for Portugal stands top on the table.

Lionel Messi stands 3rd on the table with 68 International goals for Argentina.

Chhetri recently became India’s most-capped international player.
