Peren, May 25 (NE): Zeliang Officer’s Association Nagaland (ZOAN) had a meeting with District Administration & Medical Department of Peren on May 23, 2020 at Customary Court, ADC Office Jalukie. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of ZOAN President, Hiazu Meru.
In the meeting, Dy. CMO Peren, Dr. Supongmenla Walling, DSO, Dr. Kevi Meyase and SMO CHC Jalukie, Dr. Yetovi Tuccu highlighted on the action plan and preparedness status of Quarantine Centres & COVID Hospital. The Medical Department Officials also briefed the ZOAN Office Bearers on the inadequate infrastructure, shortage of PPEs as well as lack of man power at designated COVID Hospital, CHC Jalukie.
Addressing the meeting, ZOAN President, Hiazu Meru stated that the purpose of the meeting is to ascertain the preparedness of Peren DTF in the fight against the global pandemic as well as to extend solidarity to all the frontline workers for their selfless services rendered and further encouraged them to continue to work selflessly with equal zeal. While speaking he also assured that, ZOAN will look forward to assist the District Admin. and Medical Dept. in all possible ways to its capacity.
The visiting Officials also donated an INR of Rs.1 Lakh to DC Peren to utilise in the management of Quarantine Centres and then proceed to inspect Peren District designated COVID Hospital, CHC Jalukie to assess the preparedness and also to take stock of the resources available.
Later, the team headed to Jalukie Town Local Baptist Church, Conference Hall to have an interaction with Joint Action Committee (JAC) on COVID-19 wherein an amount of Rs. 30,000 and a total of 50 face masks were also donated to JAC which was received by JAC Convenor, Dr. Tumda Newme. While interacting, ZOAN President urged the JAC to work collectively with utmost sincerity and further spoke on the need to organise sensitization program even in village level on the importance of social distancing, proper use of face masks and use of hand sanitizers.
Facility Quarantine Centres Nodal Officer, SDO (C), Kemciyile apprised the visiting Officials that plantain or banana leaf being a biodegradable products will be used as an alternative for packing food items for serving the inmates in quarantine centres due to its eco-friendly waste disposal.
After an interaction, ZOAN Officials along with Facility Quarantine Centres Nodal Officer went to inspect identified Facility Quarantine Centre at JNV School and St. Xavier College, Auditorium.
