The Yimchungru Akheru Arihako has embarked on a month-long education tour from 22nd April to 17th May. During the tour, the Union visited all educational institutions under its jurisdiction.
The Union also surveyed health and other ongoing developmental works in the district. A press statement issued by the Union stated that it stands firm on Zero tolerance towards proxy teachers and to enforce no work, no pay policy in all the schools under its jurisdiction.
The statement said introduction of Biometric attendance in all Government schools would enable in eradicating proxy and enhance teacher’s regularity. It stated that besides the menace of proxy teachers, there is acute shortage of teachers in almost all the schools, particularly subject teachers which is primarily responsible for poor result.
In regard to poor infrastructure including the school buildings, the Union urged the State Government to contemplate on constructing new school building, and major renovation works to create conducive learning environment.
A representation has also been submitted to the Department of School Education to redress the matter.
