Workshop held on COVID-19 vaccine for media persons in Peren district

Kohima, January 26 (NEx): Medical Department, Peren District organised a workshop on COVID-19 vaccine for media persons on January 25, 2021 at CHC Jalukie with CMO Office Peren Media Officer, Celine Sechü as the Resource person.

Celine stated that COVID-19 Vaccine is safe and effective which boosts our immunity and it will be available in a phased manner. She added that an individual will receive 2 doses each and there will be a gap of 28 days between the two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

Further, Celine highlighted the three main objectives of COVID-19 vaccination drives wherein she mentioned due to lack of proper information, the public are hesitant to receive the vaccine, so inorder to eradicate hesitancy, media persons should educate the public even in the grassroot level with limited & right messages about the new vaccine and its processes.

She also spoke on vaccine eagerness and COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB). While speaking on vaccine eagerness, she said currently there is eagerness among the public on the vaccine and for receiving it and hence it is the responsibility of the media persons to disseminate transparent or appropriate information to the general public and the prioritized groups about availability, safety and timeline of the vaccine.

Discussion in regard to communication and mobilization plan for the effective implementation and awareness in the district was also held.
