Kohima, September 01 (NEx): In order to address the overloaded trucks plying on Dimapur-Kohima road which leads to frequent standing and stoppage of traffic, DC Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, through an office order informed that the weighing bridge at ISTT 7th mile Chumukedima, Dimapur will be made operational from September 10, 2020.
He directed all up-bound (Kohima route) goods laden vehicles to undergo weigh test and obtain weight compliance slip with effect from September 10, 2020 onwards and only on production of the same they will be allowed to go upto Kohima.
Certain categories of vehicles such as Tankers, Truck ferrying FCI goods, Trucks used for Central / State Project Work, Trucks engaged in four lane/National Highway Project, Railway works and Trucks engaged for local duties within Dimapur will be exempted from obtaining the weight compliance slip, a DIPR report said.
DC further notified that overloading will not be allowed and the vehicle load carrying capacity will be 5 and shall be the responsibility of the concerned vehicle owners to remove the excess load and transport the same out of ISTT and no goods shall be left in the ISTT premises.
Dimapur DC also cautioned that overloading by any goods vehicle will be liable to attract punitive action under the relevance section of the MV Act.
