Vehicles allowed to ply between Patkai Bridge to Kukidolong from 5am-3pm

Dimapur, February 16 (NEx): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, informed that all types of vehicles shall be allowed to ply from 05:00 am to 03:00 pm in the stretch between Chathe River Bridge (Patkai bridge) to Kukidolong with effect from February 17, 2021 till further order.

The DC notified this in a circular in pursuance to order dated February 11, 2021 and for the convenience of the general public. However, the DC cautioned all the commuters and plying vehicles to strictly adhere to all the traffic regulations and maintain a distance of atleast 30 meters between vehicles.

The traffic personnel shall strictly monitor and facilitate the movement accordingly, he said.

Due to heavy rockslides between Chumukedima Police check post till New Chumukedima Village, the DC Dimapur on February 2nd, 2021 has ordered the closure of the road from Chathe River Bridge (Patkai bridge) to Kukidolong till further order.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Nagaland, R.N Ravi held a review meeting on February 11, 2021, and decided that total restriction on traffic was no longer required and the Highway was opened for the commuters – for both way traffic between 6 AM & 10 AM and between 2 PM & 5PM everyday from February 12, 2021.

The Governor expressed deep concerns over untold hardships to the public due to continuing traffic restrictions on the Highway. He also conveyed his displeasure to the Contractors for reckless rock blasting which is the cause of the heavy rock slide.
