Kohima, February 20 (NEx): The government of Nagaland issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for reopening of universities, colleges & technical institutions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Chief Secretary, GoN, J. Alam IAS informed that the state has decided to re-open campuses and permit holding of regular classes in all the universities, colleges and technical institutions functioning in Nagaland with effect from February 24th, 2021.
The state govt has issued SOP to resume normal classes, for the safety of the students, faculty members and others, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and for strict compliance by all concerned throughout the state of Nagaland.
The SOP includes generic preventive measures like physical distancing, use of face cover/mask, frequent washing of hands to be mandatory. Sitting places to bring clearly marked in classes, libraries, laboratories,etc. Also, prohibition of spitting and installation of Aarogya setu app is advised.
Before reopening, institutions are to sanitize the work areas and frequently touched surfaces, and the exit/entry points to have mandatory hand hygiene facilities and thermal screening provisions.
The SOP also prohibits cultural activities and meetings, however, sports and extracurricular activities may be allowed where physical distancing is feasible, as per guidelines issued by state government from time to time.
Any violation of the provisions of the SOP shall attract strict action as per legal provisions against the management of the institute, faculty, employee student or visitor as the case maybe, the order from the Chief Secretary stated.
