Kohima, January 24 (NEx): The Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a two-week bamboo craft workshop for physically disabled and financially challenged people from January 11th, 2021 at Zunheboto, which culminated on January 23rd, 2021.

PRO HQ IGAR said that the workshop was organised with a vision of mastering skills of bamboo craft to explore alternative sources of livelihood and promoting the natural flair for bamboo craft in the local population. This endeavour would promote both local handicraft culture as well as generation of employment, he added.

A total of 52 persons including 12 ladies were given training on carving, weaving, painting and furniture making etc.

The populace expressed their gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for providing this excellent opportunity for the physically challenged individuals to be self reliant, the press release said.
