Two arrested for the viral video case try to escape, shot in the leg by Police

Kohima, May 28 (NEx): Two of the accused arrested in connection with the viral video of a girl being brutally tortured and sexually assaulted were shot in the leg today when they allegedly tried to attack the police and escape from the crime scene.

According to a media report, around 5 am today, the police had taken the accused to the spot for reconstructing the crime scene, when two of the accused allegedly tried to attack the police to escape and police had to open fire for self defense. The injured accused have been hospitalized, it said.

On Thursday, Bengaluru police traced and arrested the six culprits including two women, after a video of a girl being brutally tortured and sexually assaulted went viral. All the culprits and the victim are reportedly from Bangladesh.

The viral video of a girl being brutally tortured and sexually assaulted by four men and a woman has generated immense outrage. Reportedly, the incident took place in Bengaluru almost six days ago.

On the basis of the contents in the video clip and facts as disclosed during preliminary interrogation of the secured persons, a case of rape, assault and other relevant provisions of law, has been registered against the accused in Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station under Bengaluru in Karnataka, a statement from police informed.

At present, the victim is away in a neighbouring state, and a Police team has been dispatched to trace her, so that she could join the investigation, the police informed yesterday.

As per the information revealed so far, all of them are part of the same group and believed to be from Bangladesh. Due to financial differences, culprits brutalized the victim, who is also said to be a Bangladeshi, brought to India for trafficking, the statement said on Thursday.
