Kohima, October 06 (NEx): The transport Department, Government of Nagaland lifted the temporary suspension of services pertaining to registration of vehicles and driving licences. The Motor Vehicles Department shall resume with immediate effect its function of registration of vehicles and issue of driving licences, it said.
SOP on COVID-19 as issued by the State and subsequent periodical instructions as issued by the Government must strictly be adhered to, added the release.
The Secretary, Transport Department, Nagaland, A. Robin Lotha on September 08, 2020, in another notification informed that the Central Government has made it mandatory for the fitment of FASTag on all motor vehicles under category M and N, sold on or after December 1st, 2017, therefore, the FASTag details will be captured while registering new vehicles or issuing fitness certificates to transport vehicles plying under national permit henceforth.
Motor vehicle of ‘Category M’ – a motor vehicle with at least four wheels used for carrying passengers and ‘Category N’ – a motor vehicle with at least four vehicles used for carrying goods which may also carry persons in addition to the goods.
In another notification, the Transport Department has notified that validity of Fitness Certificate, Permit (all types), Driving License, Registration or any other concerned documents whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lock- down and which had expired since February 1st, 2020 or would expire by December 31st, 2020, the same will be treated as valid till December 31st, 2020.
The department directed the enforcement authorities to treat such documents as valid till December 31st, 2020 with no late fee/fine imposed during the said period.
