TR appreciates Governor’s effort in pursuing the setting up of Covid-19 test centre

Kohima, April 06 (NE): Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister, TR Zeliang appreciates the initiative of Shri. R.N. Ravi, Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, in pursuing for set up of the much needed Covid-19 testing laboratory in Nagaland.

While addressing the people of Nagaland on Covid-19, Nagaland Governor, Hon’ble Shri R.N Ravi on Saturday, April 04, 2020, assured the people that all possible measures have been taken to prevent the possible spread of COVID19 in the state. We are in the process of setting up a Coronavirus test Centre in the sate, Governor added.

At present, we do not have testing facility for corona in our state. We have to send samples of suspected cases to Guwahati, Assam. As a result, we have not been able to do required number of tests so that we can have an objective assessment of the COVID-19 situation in the state, said the Governor.

As on April 05, 2020, a total of 47 samples for suspected Covid-19 were sent for test from Nagaland, in which 45 samples tested negative. Two samples results are awaited.

TR Zeliang expresses hope and pray that it would be functional at the earliest as it is the need of the hour, it added.
