Kohima, July 27 (NEx): Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS, enforced one week long total lockdown in Mon Town, Mon Sadar Sub-Division & Tizit Sub-Division starting from today, July 27 till August 02, 2020.
An order issued by Thavaseelan on Sunday stated that total lockdown is enforced in light of certain emerging circumstances and with the views to contain the spread of COVID-19.
As guidelines to follow, the DC Mon stated that, all movement of public is prohibited except on medical emergencies. All business / commercial establishment and shops except Pharmacies shall remain closed.
All movements of public vehicles except those permitted is banned. No movements will be permitted in and out of Mon Town. Not more than 20 people will be permitted in case of funerals, it added.
Trucks from Assam carrying essential shall be permitted only on Monday, which is July 27, 2020.
Exception from total lockdown;
Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, banks, Fire and Emergency Services, Health and Family Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies, power, PHED, Sanitation workers of MTC, Treasuries and Accounts, PWD (R&B)/ National Highways, Postal services, Prisons, District Court, IPR, Home guards and civil defence and Para Military forces are exempted from the purview of total lockdown.
Further, DC Mon requested all to kindly comply with this order. If any person found violating this order will be penalized under the relevant provisions of the law, warned DC Mon.
