Kohima, February 06 (NEx): A three day Covid-19 sensitization training for NGOs, NCOs, Home Guards, State Disaster Response Force and Civil Defence personnel started at District
Commandant Home Guards office Wokha on February 06, 2021.
Delivering the keynote address, Vikiho.K. Sema, District Commandant, HG, CD and SRDF Wokha stated that sensitizing the frontline workers on Covid-19 will allow them to understand the importance of taking the vaccine as we continue to fight against the virus.
The resource persons were Dr. Mhonchan Kithan, Zonal Leprosy Officer Wokha and Dr. Khesheli Awomi, Epidemiologist.
Dr. Mhonchan gave a brief introduction on the origin of coronavirus and the new deadly variant of the virus from UK and South Africa. He urged the frontline workers not to be hesitant as the Covid-19 vaccine Covishield, currently used in the state, is made using an old technology.
Dr. Mhonchan also lauded the efforts of the Home Guards, Civil Defence and SRDF personnel in carrying out their duties during the pandemic.
Dr. Khesheli took sessions on the standard operating procedure for Covid-19 and the tests done for suspected cases in the district. She reminded the frontline workers not to be complacent and continue to follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
The resource persons also answered various queries raised by the frontline workers on vaccination. The ongoing three day training is a collaboration between District Commandant Home Guards Office and medical department to create awareness as the vaccination drive for frontline workers starts next week in the district.
