Kohima, May 10 (NEx): The Sumi Hoho on Monday urged the Nagaland Government to immediately impose complete lockdown in Nagaland with immediate effect in the wake of serious surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.
The Sumi Hoho in a representation submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, lauded the machineries of the Government of Nagaland and all the frontline workers for the unceasing effort to contain spread of Covid-19 in the state.
The Hoho said that the COVID-19 positive cases and casualties are surging day by day and we cannot deny the fact that community spread is endangering the lives of the entire state.
The Sumi Hoho urged upon the Government of Nagaland to immediately impose complete lockdown of the state for a period of at least ten days in order to break the chain of community spreading in the larger interest and safety of the citizens of Nagaland.
According to weekly bulletin by the State Health department, it is pertinent to note that the random sample testing conducted in Kohima has returned with 61% Positivity Rate. Meanwhile, the test conducted on passengers at Dimapur Airport has returned with 54% Positivity Rate.
Nagaland has recorded a total of 2884 active COVID cases with 133 new cases on Monday, informed the State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom. The total caseload in the state stands at 16,283, out of this, 12,734 infected persons have already recovered. Meanwhile, 140 lives succumbed to COVID-19 in the State till date, Pangnyu added.
