Kohima, April 20 (NE): In a recent
development about the sub-standard protective gear complaints from doctors and health workers, Government has issued new guidelines to replace the Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs).
The Principal Secretary, Home, Government of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, IAS while briefing about the Covid-19 status on Sunday, April 19, 2020 said that the doctors and health workers raising apprehensions about the quality of PPEs and medical accessories should submit reasons specifying the quality parameters which they feel are not as per the standards recommended in writing to the concerned Controlling Officers; and the Health Department will issue new PPEs and other medical accessories as replacement of all such purported inferior quality materials.
Further, the respective Deputy Commissioners will collect all such returned PPEs and medical items and keep under their safe custody until further orders, Sinha added.
This new guidelines have been issued in the wake of recent report of some doctors and health workers raising objections about the quality of PPEs and other medical accessories being issued to them by the Health Department.
On Thursday, April 16, the Health Minister had directed Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare to immediately recall all the sub-standard protective gears distributed to respective district Hospitals, Community Health Centre, Sub-centers of the state and replace it with good quality materials considering the life of our frontline workers.
