Special Investigation Team (SIT) Constituted To Investigate On Thongtso Village Incident

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Police Head Quarter (PHQ) has been constituted by the order of DGP Nagaland, to ensure a speedy and fair investigation regarding the incident of November 18, 2020 at Thongtso Village, Thonoknyu area

Kohima, November 19 (NEx): A Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Police Head Quarter (PHQ) has been constituted by the order of DGP Nagaland, to ensure a speedy and fair investigation regarding the incident of November 18, 2020 at Thongtso Village, Thonoknyu area, where unknown miscreants reportedly killed one person and injured another and torched several houses.

Following the incident, DGP Nagaland T John Longkumer along with the Commissioner, Nagaland and IGP(R), Nagaland rushed to Tuensang on the same day to assess the situation. The DGP has sent a strong message that no perpetrators shall be spared, and strict action shall be initiated, as per law against persons involved in the incident, a report from Tuensang Police said.

A criminal case has been registered under Thonoknyu Police Station under various sections of the laws. (Case No. 02/20 U/S 302/307/326/120(B)/435 IPC r/w 25(1b) Arms Act).

The report also said that extensive raids were carried out at suspected locations, under the supervision of Additional SP and SDPO Tuensang, in the evening hours of November 18, 2020 and 4 (four) weapons have been seized.

Additional Security Forces along with the State Special Task Force has been deployed at different strategic locations in and around the affected place to prevent further escalation of violence, the report said.
