Kohima: Shuttle Rockers from Dimapur defeated Kohima Smashers 4-2 in the final match to lift the title of the 1st Nagaland Premier Badminton League played at Indoor Badminton Stadium Kohima on May 31.
The fate of the first state badminton league champion was decided by the sixth match and it was Rockers that emerged victorious to take the title.
Shuttle Rockers won the categories of Under-17 girls, under-19 boys, men’s doubles and 85 plus men’s doubles.
While Kohima Smashers managed to win the Under-13 and 19 boys categories.
After winning the first edition, Shuttle Rockers received a cash of One Lakh 50 Thousand rupees, and runner-up Smashers Kohima 80 Thousand rupees.
The player of the tournament was awarded to Riku Khape, Kohima Smashers with citations and cash award of Ten Thousand rupees.
Imlikumla Imsong from Kohima Smashers received the most promising player of the tournament.
A total of six teams took part in the first edition. The three-day long tournament was organized by Nagaland Badminton Club under the aegis of Nagaland Badminton Association.
