Sensitization and Awareness programme on Child Right at Dimapur

Dimapur, October 24 (NE): A Sensitization and Awareness programme on Child Right and Child Protection and its Mechanisms in Nagaland organised by District Child Protection Unit in collaboration with District Administration was held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on 24th October 2019.

Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol in his speech reminded all stakeholders that they are dealing with a very special section of people who are the future of tomorrow. He also felt the need of creating more awareness among the masses about the vulnerability of the situation the young people face in today’s world due to different factors such as social media through which people are easily lured to different kinds of negative situations.

During the programme, role of Child Welfare Committee, role of Juvenile Justice Board, role of District Child Protection Unit and the role of SJPU was presented by Member, Child Welfare Committee, Limasenla, 1st Class Magistrate Chairman, Juvenile Justice Board, Protection Officer, Esther Sumi and official from Child Welfare Police Office, Dimapur respectively. CHILDLINE Dimapur gave a powerpoint presentation about their activities highlighting the various reported cases while NT Kikon briefed the gathering about the roles and procedures of adoption.

The programme was chaired by Counsellor, Husheli Sumi.
