Revised traffic regulation in Dimapur; Odd-even traffic rules in Dimapur town extended till July 30, said an order issued by CP, Dimapur

Dimapur, June 27 (NE): The Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo, IPS, today, June 27, 2020 through an order issued the revised traffic regulation for non – essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and National Highway 29 till Chumoukedima Town.

The earlier order issued by the office on May seventeen, will cease to be effective from June 28, it said.

Further, the new traffic regulation for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and National Highway 29 till Chumoukedima town will be enforced from June 30 till July 30 as mentioned below.

*All car passes issued by Dimapur police on COVID-19 duty shall be invalid from June 28, 2020.

*Odd number day: On every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, only vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9) will be allowed to ply.

*Even number day: On every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, only vehicles with registration number ending with Even Numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 and 0) will be allowed to ply.

*The restriction will not be enforced on Sundays.

*The category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted. Further, government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services/ involved in COVID-19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof.

*Two wheelers shall also be exempted from this traffic restriction.

*All heavy vehicles except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and Highway area from 09:00 hours to 15:00 hours.

The CP also stated that violation of the aforementioned order will be penalized under section 177 and 179 of MV Act 1988, and appealed to all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.

The revised order is issued in the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and under section 115 of the motor vehicles Act, 1988, it stated.
