Kohima, April 08 (NEx): The first ordained Minister among the Konyak Nagas, Reverend L. Mankap Konyak passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Tamlu village. He was 99. The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Mon Division condoles the demise of Rev L. Mankap.

Rev. Mankap passed away on April 7th, 2021 (Wednesday) and the funeral will be held tomorrow, April 9th, 2021 at Tamlu Village.

NPF Mon Division in a condolence message, expressed shock and pain to learn of the demise of Rev. L. Mankap Konyak and stated that, Rev. Mankap who has been the most prominent figure not only among Konyak community but amongst the Nagas has left the community well established as an architect of modern Konyak society in the field of socio-religious and political arena.

It also mentioned that Rev. Mankap was the first ordained minister and Christian missionary among the Konyak tribe and a founding member of Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (Served as Mission & Evangelism secretary), Konyak Students’ Union (Served as President in 1950s) and the Konyak Union.

The NPF, Mon Division shares the pain and grieve with the family of Rev. Mankap Konyak and pray for the soul of our great leader to rest in heavenly home, stated the condolence message.
