Kohima, February 07 (NEx): The Naga Hoho had a coordination meeting with the United Naga Council, Arunachal Naga Students’ Federation and Zeliangrong & Rengma Council, Assam on January 28, 2021 at Guwahati.
A joint statement from the Naga Hoho, ANSF, Zeliangrong & Rengma Council, Assam and United Naga Council, Manipur stated that the coordination meeting took strong exception on the recent Republic Day speech of RN Ravi, the Governor of Nagaland and the Centre’s Interlocutor to the Indo-Naga Peace Talks. The speech undermines the political struggle of the Naga people and questions the integrity of the interlocutor, it said.
“We understand that the speech is not independent from the larger political scheme of the Government of India (GoI) and we assert that this must stop. It is clear that the Governor is being used, to create more problems than to resolve the Naga issue”, the joint statement read.
The joint statement also said that the Government of India’s delaying tactics will only backtrack what has been achieved this far.
‘We recall the Framework Agreement and do not see any reason to drag on the talks for more than 24 years. The Government of India must take a clear stand on the long pending Indo Naga political issue and prove its commitment with utmost sincerity as world’s largest democracy’- unquote.
