Govt gears up for safety, immediately to replace sub-standard protective gears

Kohima, April 17 (NE): Nagaland during this global pandemic Coronavirus reminds of the saying “Only crying babies get the milk”- after receiving complaints on sub-standard protective gears, Health Minister had finally directed to recall all the sub-standard protective gears immediately to ensure the safety of the medical professionals.

A recent letter issued by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, S Pangnyu Phom to the Principal Director, H&FW, Dr. Vizolie Z Suokhrie, said “It is learnt that many of the Hospitals and its staffs are lodging complaints for providing improper Emergency Medical Equipments, knowing the fact of their life been put under risk and uncertainty in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic”.

Health Minister on Thursday, on April 16, 2020, directed to recall all the inferior and incomplete quality of PPEs and other medical equipments which are already distributed to respective District Hospitals, Community Health Centre, Sub-Centres of the State, immediately and replace it with good quality materials considering the life of our frontline workers.

Lately, the government has been feeling the pressure from all corners for providing low quality protective gears to fight a global pandemic, risking the life of medical professionals. On the wake of this recent direction from the Ministry, one thing is certain, uttermost priority of the government at the moment is to ensure the safety of our frontline workers and to provide the right equipments and protective gears to fight against Covid-19.
