Post Matric Scholarship to be disbursed before December 11; ANCSU & ENCSU informs students

Kohima, December 03 (NEx): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) on Thursday informed that the Directorate of Higher Education has assured that the second and final installments for Post Matric Scholarship ST 2019-2020 would be disbursed to the student beneficiaries before December 11th, 2020.

ANCSU President, Vimeyiekho Vitso and ENCSU President, Serichum Sangtam in a joint press statement informed that following the appeal made by students’ bodies to the department of Higher Education and State Government to disburse the second and final installments for Post Matric Scholarship ST 2019-2020 within ten(10) days, a joint meeting was held with the directorate of higher education on November 26, 2020.

During the meeting, the union(s) were apprised by the Directorate of Higher Education on the various unavoidable circumstances being faced by the government functionaries due to the global pandemic which has affected the day to-day functioning of the government offices. While considering the fact of inconveniences arising due to the prevailing situation, the union(s) reiterated its stand in regard to timely disbursement of scholarship.

The ANCSU and ENCSU further informed the students’ community that the Directorate of Higher Education has officially communicated to the two Unions on December 03, 2020, about the unavoidable delay in completing the requisite procedures for disbursing the scholarship to the student beneficiaries, and also assured to the students’ community that, under any circumstances the second and final installments for PMS ST 2019-2020 would be disbursed to the student beneficiaries before December 11th, 2020.

The union(s) appealed the students’ community to consider the extraordinary situation and await the disbursement of scholarship as assured. In the wake of failing to comply with the given assurance, the two Unions will hold the department accountable for any unfavorable situation, it stated.
