Kohima, September 18 (NEx): Krishi Vigyan Kendra Zunheboto, Nagaland University celebrated POSHAN MAAH at KVK Zunheboto, NU, Lumami on September 17, 2020.
A press release from Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Zunheboto NU Lumami, said that the day long programme was organised with the main objective of capacity development of Anganwadi workers & Farm women, creating awareness about nutrition rich/ bio- fortified varieties of seeds, nutritional gardening and establishing terrace garden at Anganwadi centres.
In his welcome address, Kumar illustrated and briefed the Anganwadi workers & farm women about the objective of the programme. He requested the Anganwadi workers to be proactive in their approach and try to develop terrace garden at Anganwadi centres which can become a demonstration unit for them.
The details of the programme was briefed by Ms. Edenly Chishi, ACTO (Horticulture) and Nodal Officer of Poshan Abhiyan. After the inaugural programme, technical session on
capacity building of Anganwadi workers and farm women on nutrition and its requirements, importance of Nutri Garden and Nutri – Thali, Bio-fortified varieties was presented by the ACTO.
The participants were also taken to KVK farm for a field visit to demonstrate the model of Nutri Garden and scientific method of Nursery raising and its management by ACTO along with Ms. Naropongla, Farm Manager, KVK Zunheboto.
Vegetable seeds were distributed to the participants which was provided by IFFCO & KVK.
