Kohima, October 27 (NEx): The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A, has informed that photo voter slip shall not be accepted as a stand-alone identification document for voting, though it will be prepared and issued to electors.
He said that the Election Commission of India on October 14, 2020 has directed that for the current Bye-Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14 Southern Angami –I (ST) AC, all the electors who have been issued EPICs shall produce their EPICs for their identification at the polling station before casting their votes.
Those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall have to produce one of the following alternative photo identity for establishing their identity:
*MGNREGA Job Card
*Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office
*Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour
*Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR
*Pension document with photograph
*Service Identity Card with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt./PSUs/Public Limited Companies
*Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs
Electors are required to carry EPIC or one of the 11 alternative documents as specified above by the Commission for voting.
The by- election poll in Nagaland is scheduled to take place on November 3rd, 2020 (Tuesday), between 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.
