Phek: The ADC of Chozuba, Theodore Yanthan, on July 27, 2020, imposes odd-even vehicle rule in order to minimize the non-essential movement of vehicles

Kohima, July 28 (NEx): The ADC of Chozuba, Theodore Yanthan, on July 27, 2020, issued a partial modification of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. The following orders along with odd-even vehicle rule are enforced for compliance of all concerned, said the notification.

*Wearing of face masks mandatory in all public places. Social distancing to be maintained.

* All shops/outlets dealing with food grains, vegetables, and other essential commodities including ATMs and banks except pharmacies and petrol stations are to open from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

*Only vehicles for essential commodities and medical emergencies will be allowed to ply as per the odd-even number days.

*All hair cutting salons, hotels and eateries are to remain shut.

* Movement of persons for non-essential activities shall be strictly prohibited between 5:00 pm to 6:00 am

* All persons above the age of 65, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 shall stay at home except for essential requirements and health purposes as per the national directives.

*Inter district movement of commercial passenger vehicles shall remain barred except vehicles carrying goods.

ADC said that any person found violating the above advisory shall be punishable under relevant section of law, and further urged the public to refrain from unnecessary movement except for medical reasons or urgent essential work or for unavoidable reasons as permitted by the state govt.

Odd-Even vehicle rule:

In order to minimize the non-essential movement of vehicles, ADC Chozuba issued the odd-even vehicles rule with effect from July 28, 2020 till further notice. However, it will not apply to vehicles exempted through various govt notifications currently in force.

Odd number day:

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, only vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (Eg. 1,3,5,7,9) shall be allowed to ply.

Even number day:

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (Eg. 2,4,6,8,0) shall be allowed to ply.

The ADC further notified that this rule shall apply in areas covering NH- 702 B passing through Chozuba sub-division and within the while town area. Essential goods carrying vehicles shall also follow the odd-even number days. He also ordered that non registered vehicles shall not be allowed to ply.

Violation of this order will be liable to be penalized under section 177 & 179 of MV act, 1988, said the notification by ADC Chozuba.
