People are facing Immeasurable problems due to the delay and poor workmanship of Dimapur to Kohima 4 lane road; MP, Tokheho Yepthomi

Kohima, October 9 (NE): Lok Sabha MP, Tokheho Yepthomi met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari at New Delhi today, October 9, 2019.

Tokheho urged Union Minister Gadkari to personally intervene and look into the slow progress of 4 lane road between Dimapur-Kohima and hardships the people of Nagaland are made to face on a daily basis because this.

Hon’ble Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari has assured to accelerate construction of this crucial road.

Apprising the union minister, Tokheho Yepthomi in his official letter stated that 4 lane road NH – 39 from Dimapur to kohima in Nagaland, is the most vital road in the state for which you had laid the foundation stone in 2015. You are aware that the work has been undertaken by national highway and infrastructure development corporation limited (NHIDCL) with a construction period of 3 years. The work is well over the stipulated time and is nowhere near completion. Portions of road that are completed have already developed potholes, which only shows poor workmanship undertaken by sub-contractors.

The people of our state are facing immeasurable problems due to delay and poor workmanship of this vital road to our state capital from our commercial capital. It has become routine for people traveling this road to take diversions to alternate routes, which extends the travel time by more than 3 hours. Traffic jams on this route has also become a routine exercise for travelers who are frequently stuck for hours at a stretch and overnight at times. I have also raised this issue on the floor of the house, but to no avail.
