July 5: Cheif Minister Neiphiu Rio today (5 July) in his tweet, informed that the state will follow the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972 about the Paternity leave for the Nagaland Government employees.

As per the existing CCS(Leave) Rules, 1972, a male state government employee (including an apprentice) with less than 2 surviving children, will be granted paternity leave by a competent authority.

Paternity leave will be granted for a period of 15 days during the confinement of his wife for childbirth or within a period of 6 months from the date of delivery of the child.

During such period of 15 days, he shall be paid leave salary equal to the pay drawn before proceeding on leave.

The Paternity leave may be combined with leave of any other kind and shall not be debited against the leave account.

It also states that, the Paternity leave shall be treated as lapsed if not availed within the period.
