Kohima, September 14 (NEx): The Leader of Opposition and PAM convener Sh TR Zeliang, also the former Chief Minister of Nagaland, along with few NPF core members, had an interaction followed by dinner at Police Complex Chumukedima, with top leaders of various Naga organisations which included Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF), Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), Tenyimia Public Organisation (TPO), Naga Hoho (NH), Naga Mothers Association (NMA), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF). The NTC has acknowledged the invitation however regretted from attending the meeting due to prior engagements, informed a press communique from PAM.
T.R. Zeliang expressed happiness and hope for positive pro-active response by all organizations attending the meeting. With almost all stakeholders in a single platform after a long gap, which is the need of the hour to discuss the possible clear road-map and way ahead to facilitate for an early solution as GoI.
TR Zeliang was of the strong view that unity by all Naga Civil Organizations in one voice for an early solution is the first step towards attaining the much anticipated final solution and lasting peace in the region. He also called upon the gathering for a collective genuine effort by all stakeholders including Naga public, to facilitate and not be an obstruction in any form. He cautioned that Naga political issue is highly complex, which needed practical approach, political acumen and high level of understanding between the negotiating parties.
Further, positive progress is possible if Tribalism, Polarization or political colours are kept away on the Naga issue and only true genuine concern for permanent peace and progress. This will ensure that the future of Naga generations and Naga areas be free from any conflict and enable an ecosystem of self sustenance, it said.
The meeting lasted for almost 5 hours, they were all of the general view that Framework Agreement signed by NSCN IM and Agreed Position by WC NNPG needed deliberation by GoI for an honorable common Final Naga Accord, based on the formal talks which concluded in October 31st, 2019. They were also of the view that all stakeholders be consulted and made signatories of the final Naga accord to rule out any misunderstandings.
After the first informal fruitful interaction and taking inputs from various stakeholders including Naga political groups, engaged in peace talks with GoI convened by PAM of NPF, Convenor Shri TR Zeliang is likely to move to New Delhi soon to meet Central leaders to convey the aspirations of the people for permanent peace in the region and the need of drafting of common Naga accord by GoI for early solution which is inescapable.
