Odd-even vehicle rule in Dimapur district to continue till September 30, 2020

Dimapur, September 01 (NEx): In continuation to the Office order on August 14, 2020, Dimapur Police on September One said that in the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, Odd-Even vehicle rule is enforced for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chumoukedima town with effect from September 02, 2020 till September 30, 2020.

Odd number Day:

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, only vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (eg.1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will be allowed to ply.

Even Number Day:

Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (eg, 2, 4, 6, 8 & 0) will be allowed to ply.

This restriction will not be enforced on Sundays, it said.

The category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted. Further, Government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services/ involved in COVID -19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof. Two wheelers shall also be exempted from this traffic restriction.

All heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 09:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs.

Violation of the aforementioned order will be penalized U/S 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988, it added.
