Kohima, September 30 (NEx): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS has extended the ‘Odd-Even’ system for movement of private vehicles, including Public Transport (Taxis and City Buses) under the jurisdiction of Kohima Municipal areas, except on Sundays, till October 31, 2020.
The DC stated that in the interest of public safety and to minimize non-essential movement of vehicles and for better traffic management in Kohima Municipal areas, the ‘Odd-Even’ system for movement of private vehicles, including Public Transport (Taxis and City Buses), is hereby implemented under the jurisdiction of Kohima Municipal areas, except on Sundays, as mentioned here under:
1. Odd numbered vehicles:-
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, only vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (Eg. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) shall be allowed to ply.
2. Even Numbered vehicles:-
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (Eg. 2, 4, 6, 8, 0) shall be allowed to ply.
The prohibition and restriction of movement of vehicles will, however, not apply for Press and two-wheelers (without pillion rider), Vehicles carrying emergency Medical equipments, essential commodities, LPG cylinders and Oil tankers, Inter-State trucks carrying essential commodities bound for the state of Manipur, it said.
All Permits/ Exemptions issued prior to the issue of this Order shall stand cancelled with immediate effect. Violation of this restriction Order will be liable to be penalised under Section 177 & 179 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
This Order shall be implemented with immediate effect and remain enforced till 31st October 2020 for the strict compliance of all concerned, the order stated.
