Kohima, March 10 (NEx): National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Nagaland unit staged a protest against the rising unemployment on Wednesday in Supermarket area, Dimapur, under the slogan “Naukri Do Ya Degree Wapas Lo”.
The NSUI Nagaland, President Chophika Sumi, said that the NDA government during election campaign made many tall promises of giving employment to the youths but we are witnessing the opposite. Last year, during COVID-19 pandemic, almost 12 crore people lost their jobs. There are so many vacancies in the Central Government department, which are yet to be made open for unemployed youths, he added.
The protesters made pakoda during the protest to mark their dissent against the rising unemployment in the country. NSUI Nagaland President said, it is not to demean the profession of the ‘pakodawala’, but the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview to a television channel, said that making pakoda is also a form of employment. Hence, we are doing this to register our protest against rising unemployment, he said.
