NSLSA to Hold National Lok Adalat in all Districts on April 10th

Kohima, April 08 (NEx): The 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat (People’s Courts) 2021, under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) will be held in all the district headquarters on April 10th, 2021.

Informing this in a press release, the Public Relation Assistant, NSLSA said that a total of 11 Lok Adalat Benches at district court premises will be set up by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSAs).

Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, and a forum where disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled/ compromised amicably. The release also said that Lok Adalats have been given statutory status under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Under the said Act, the award (decision) made by the Lok Adalats is deemed to be a decree of a civil court and is final and binding on all parties and no appeal against such an award lies before any court of law.

It also mentioned that there is no court fee payable when a matter is filed in a Lok Adalat adding that if a matter pending in the court of law is referred to the Lok Adalat and is settled subsequently, the court fee originally paid in the court on the complaints/petition is also refunded back to the parties.

The PRA further informed that the disposal Data of each DLSAs will be further uploaded on the web portal of the State Authority at nslsa.nagalandgov.in.
