NSF condemns harassment against migrant labourers & daily wagers

Kohima, April 18 (NE): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) condemned the act of physically and mentally harassing the poor migrant labourers and daily wagers by some mischievous elements in the Naga family, which has been circulating in various social media platforms.

The Federation is appalled by the insensitivity of the individuals involved in such ludicrous acts and appealed to the public to exercise utmost restraint in their dealings with our fellow beings and not resort to acts which will portray our society in bad light in the eyes of the world beyond us, said the condemnation letter issued by NSF on April 18, 2020.

Further, the Federation said that Naga society is one which treats every human being with dignity and provides no space for those who indulges in activities which dehumanizes another and it is truly unfortunate that incidents like this has happened during this difficult hour of the entire human race coming together and fighting the deadly COVID-19. Also, it clarified that Naga society is not one which promotes discrimination on communal and racial line as the principle of equity and justice has been the basic ethos of our people since time immemorial, it stated.

The NSF also appealed the authorities concerned to take cognizance and ensure that strict action is initiated against the perpetrators of such unwanted act.

An official tweet from Dimapur Police said, Five persons have been arrested in connection with two different incidents.
