NSF calls for 6 hours bandh tomorrow to express resentment against CAB

Kohima, December 13 (NE): Naga Students’ Federation through a notification on Friday informed that a 6 hours bandh is to be observed in all the Naga inhabited areas on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 6am to 12 noon to express the resentment of the Naga people against the passing of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

The resolution adopted in the Emergency Executive Council meeting, NSF 2019-21, held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Federation’s headquarter, wherein it was unanimously decided by the Executive Council to call for a 6 hours total bandh in all the naga inhabited areas, starting from 6am to 12 noon on December 14, 2019, to express the resentment of the Naga people against the passing of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the Parliament much against the interests and the sentiments of the indigenous people of the Northeast States, added in the notification.

The NSF also informed all the Federating units and the Sub-ordinate bodies of NSF to take up all necessary measures to ensure that the total bandh is carried out successfully in their respective jurisdiction.

The Naga Student’s Federation appealed to all the concerned citizens and stakeholders to extend their support and co-operation in this fight to protect the existence and the identity of the indigenous people. However, students appearing examination, medical staffs on duty, media personal and wedding goers, provided the wedding card is produced, will be exempted from the proposed total bandh, added in the notification.
