Kohima, July 12 (NEx): Day Six of Protest against unprecedented rise in prices of essential commodities and petrol- diesel by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) was observed by carrying out Cycle Yatra in the heart of Dimapur town from 9:30 am to 10:30 am today, July 12th, 2021.
A press release from NPCC communication cell informed that, PCC office bearers, Dimapur DCC, NSUI Nagaland, AIPC Nagaland and NPCC Minority Dept took part in the cycle yatra while keeping in view the Covid-19 lockdown guidelines.
Altogether, 12 cyclists took part in the yatra led by PCC President K Therie, seated in a cycle rickshaw followed by other volunteers on foot in a symbolic show of protest. The route taken for cycle yatra was from Dimapur DCC office near Hotel Acacia to City Tower area via Nyamo Lotha road – Circular road and returned via Circular road – Dhobinala jn – GS Road – MP – Road – Flyover – DCC office, the committee said.
At the state Capital, Kohima DCC and its frontal organisations, together with PCC office bearers continued its mass signature campaign at all retail fuel stations across the town. Similarly, Signature campaigns were conducted at Mokokchung and Tuensang by respective District Congress Committees (DCC) and generated immense response from the public. The signature campaigns will continue till July 15th, 2021, the NPCC informed.
The NPCC also appreciated the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) for extending support to the ongoing agitation against rise in prices of essential commodities and fuel. It further urged all other CSOs and NGOs to come together and voice out against the prevailing conditions of unprecedented price hike that is making the life of common people miserable on all counts.
