NPCC celebrates 151 years of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti

Kohima, October 02 (NEx): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) celebrated 151 years of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti as “Sandesh Diwas” organised by Minority Department NPCC at Congress Bhawan, Dimapur today, October 2nd, 2020.

The program began with the singing of National Anthem Invocation was done by Shri Ajit Gogoi, Gen.Secy (Admn) Minority Department followed by speech from Shri Javed Sarwar, Vice-Chairman Minority Dept. NPCC who briefed the history of Gandhiji.

Rajesh Kr Sethi, Chairman Minority Dept. NPCC stated in his speech that if Gandhiji would have been alive today, he will be at the forefront to protest the farmer’s Bill forcibly passed by fascist Modi Govt. Sethi also highlighted how UP’s Yogi Govt has stopped Rahul Gandhi & Priyanka Gandhi to meet the rape victim family at Hathras. Sethi also wished and paid tribute to former PM Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shashtri and stated that his slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan has become today as No Safety for Jawan and no safety for Kisan. Our Jawans are killed every second day at borders while Kisans are forced to commit suicide because of wrong policies of Modi govt.

Sethi also mentioned that during British time, one Gandhi fought bravely without any signs of being afraid and made India free and today Rahul ji another Gandhi is fighting tooth and nail with the fascist Modi BJP Govt and RSS. Sethi further mentioned seven Social Sins which need to be avoided are POLITICS without Principles, WEALTH without Work, COMMERCE without Morality, EDUCATION without Character, PLEASURE without Conscience, SCIENCE without Humanity; and WORSHIP without Sacrifice.

NSUI President X. Chopika Sumi highlighted how Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress brought freedom and remarked how the Modi govt has sabotaged independent institutions made by the Congress. He lamented that this is not Gandhi’s India and Nehru’s India. He called on the workers to be more resolved to save the soul of India.

Shri W.Akum Yimchunger Vice President NPCC & Shri V. Lasuh, Chairman Kisan Cell also highlighted Gandhijis’ teachings and the present prevailing situation in Nagaland.

K.Therie President NPCC spoke about the teachings and the non-violence propagated by Gandhiji. In his speech he also highlighted the current issued which are confronting the country and how under Modi regime people are suffering from atrocities. He also highlighted the bogus backdoor appointments by the present Nagaland Government and the rampant corruption that is prevailing in the state. He mentioned it is the Congress which has acknowledged the Naga problems without any preconditions and worked for its solutions. At the end, he proposed a resolution to condemn the farmer’s bills, manhandling of Rahul Gandhi and the Hathras rape incident to which the house agreed in toto.

Special song was presented by Shri N.K Naga. Shri Salikur Raja Khan, Gen.Secy. Minority Dept.NPCC proposed the vote of thanks by thanking everyone for sparing their valued time and participated with full enthusiasm and made the program successful.
