1. Briefing on Covid-19 on May 25, 2020 for Nagaland
As of 3 P.M. today, total of 1331 samples have been tested. The results of 1046 samples have been received out of which 3 as mentioned above are positive. The results for 285 samples are awaited.
Today, a total of 1783 persons have been screened and a total of 2831 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.
A total of 11, 987 citizens have signed up in the nCOVID-19 Nagaland Visitors App since March 23, 2020 and in the last 14 days 2286 persons have submitted their travel self declaration. At present 1446 persons are being digitally monitored through the nCOVID-19 Nagaland Visitors App.
2. Assam Rifles Conducts Various Activities
Assistance In Establishing A Quarantine Facility:
As part of initiative of the Assam Rifles to support the Civil Administration in its efforts to manage the COVID pandemic, Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(North) provided 45 foldable beds for setting up of the quarantine facility at Loyola school, Kiphire town on 25 May 20.
As part of the District Task Force and COVID Core Committee, the Battalion is proactively participating in all endeavour of the Civil Administration to deal with the pandemic in Kiphire.
Assam Rifles Reaches Out To Widows:
Assam Rifles units deployed in Phek district under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North), in an endeavour to reach out and to express solidarity with Widows distributed medical kits and ration in village Ziphu on 24 May 2020.Meal was also organised for them at the Company Operating Base. Information about the need to continue taking necessary precautions to keep from contacting the virus was imparted.
Distribution Of Masks:
Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) in a small gesture to reach out to needy residents distributed face masks in Songhlou village, Athibung division.
The village functionaries acknowledge the efforts of the Assam Rifles for the continuous effort in reaching out to them amid the challenging times.
3. DC Mon Notifies on total lockdown
Deputy Commissioner Mon, Thavaseelan K IAS, notified that in view of the arrival of the stranded persons from different parts of the country, a total lockdown is being enforced on May 26, 2020 in Tizit Sub-Division and May 27,2020 in Mon Sub-Division with the following conditions:
-Movement of public is strictly prohibited except on medical emergencies
-All shops except Pharmacies will remain closed
-Movement of private vehicles is strictly prohibited.
The Total Lockdown is enforced with a view to facilitate transportation of people to different Quarantine Centres of the District.
4. Health & Family Welfare Dept Appeals
Nagaland has reported 3 COVID-19 Positive cases as of 11:00 am on 25th May 2020. A press release issued by the Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Menukhol John stated that the conditions of the 3 (three) individuals are stable and are being monitored/treated in the COVID-19 hospitals. Besides, contact tracing is actively underway to prevent any further spread. In this regard, the following points are being brought to the notice of the public.
In this regard the Department has appealed to the public not to panic while at the same time, continue to be cautious and follow the safety guidelines issued from time to time. The infected persons and their families at this juncture need our prayer and support and not discrimination and stigmatization, the release stated further appealing to everyone to join hands to support the efforts of the frontline workers. The Department further re-iterated not to spread unconfirmed news items/messages in such trying times.
5. NLA Expresses Gratitude
Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Dr. P.J. Antony has informed that in preparation for the series of various Assembly Committee Meetings scheduled from May 27, 2020, the NDRF has sanitized the entire Nagaland Legislative Assembly premises on May 25, 2020. This precautionary exercise will continue as and when any important function in the Assembly Secretariat is organized.
The Assembly Secretariat has expressed gratitude to the NDRF Team as also to the Health & Family Welfare Department of the Government of Nagaland for all the support they are extending to the Secretariat in managing the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
