Kohima, May 22 (NE): News bulletin from various sources and press releases by NagalandExpress on May 22, 2020 are as follows:

1. Briefing on COVID-19 on May 22, 2020 for Nagaland

The Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha, while briefing on COVID-19 on May 22, 2020 for Nagaland said that the testing of suspected samples for COVID-19 has commenced in the BSL-3 lab at NHAK, which was inaugurated yesterday.
Regarding the testing of suspected samples in the State, as of 4 pm today, a total of 1008 samples have been sent for testing and the results of 985 samples have been received and all have been tested negative. The results for the remaining 23 samples are awaited.

Regarding the One Time Financial Assistance in the form of cash grant to persons from Nagaland stranded outside the state, and those who have voluntarily opted to stay back in their respective places, till now, 3086 persons have been paid Rs 10,000 each, amounting to Rs 3.8 crore in total.

2. DC Longleng Prohibits sale of Liquor and tobacco

Deputy Commissioner Longleng has strictly prohibited sale of liquor, paan, tamul etc, in the district and spitting in public places.

Necessary action shall be initiated against defaulters as per relevant provisions of the law under section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

3. Govt directs all DCs to sensitize individuals/organizations on unwarranted actions

Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha issued an order, that Reports have been received on unwarranted directives/ statements being issued by certain individuals/organizations obstructing entry of person(s) returning to Nagaland from outside the State into their Wards/ Colonies, even after completion of the stipulated quarantine period, or for home quarantining of the concerned person as per the existing orders and guidelines of the Government.

In certain cases, undue obstructions are being created for setting up of Quarantine Centre(s) by the State Government in the Wards/Colonies.

All the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to sensitize the concerned individuals/organizations/colony authorities in their district on such unwarranted actions which infringe on individual rights as well as in violation of Government Orders. Thereafter, immediate and effective penal action be taken against any such individuals/organisations obstructing entry of persons to their Colonies or Wards, or for setting up of Quarantine Centres by the Government under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides other actions as deemed appropriate.

4. Inter – State Borders of Mon District Sealed

Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K IAS issued an order in view of the detection of 2 (Two) COVID-19 positive cases in Sonari, Charaideo District of Assam, all inter – state borders of Mon District with Assam has been sealed with immediate effect till further orders.

The inter-state movement of people and vehicles is strictly prohibited and strict penal action will be initiated against those violators under relevant provisions of the law.
