Kohima, May 21 (NE): News bulletin from various sources and press releases by NagalandExpress on May 21, 2020 are as follows:

1. Briefing on COVID-19 on May 21, 2020 For Nagaland

Till date, a total of 1001 samples have been sent for testing from the State. The results of 978 samples have been received and all are negative. The results for 23 samples are awaited. In addition, through the Truenat testing machine, so far, a total of 27 samples have been tested and all are negative.

2. Vehicular traffic restriction on May 22, 2020

In view of scheduled arrival of special train at Dimapur carrying stranded persons from Chennai Central on May 22, 2020 tentatively at 01:00 pm, all vehicular traffic will be totally prohibited within Dimapur town, which will be enforced one hour prior to the arrival and four hours post arrival of the special train.

This vehicular restriction will apply to the exempted categories earlier notified. Dimapur Police appeals to all for necessary cooperation in the general interest of Public Safety.

3. DC Dimapur notifies retail shops/markets

DC Dimapur Anoop Kinchi, today issued an order saying that all retail shops/markets will remain closed from 12 noon till midnight of May 22, 2020 in Dimapur town. This preventive measure is being enforced in view of the special shramik train arriving from Chennai Central at Dimapur railway station on May 22, 2020.

4. Ex- Gratia Grant For Fatalities To Frontline Workers due to COVID-19

In continuation of Notification on April 20, 2020, the Home Department Relief & Rehabilitation Branch has informed that the provision of payment of ex-gratia amount of Rs. 10.00 lacs by the State Government to any employee of the Nagaland State Government suffering fatality due to COVID-19 while performing frontline duties is extended to cover drivers, cleaners, sanitary workers, caterers, and all such personnel/workers involved in the management of the Quarantine Centres in the State, as well as to any other non Government functionary involved in any other activities for combating COVID-19 under the District Task Force.

5. ADC Pfutsero Requisitions JNV

Additional Deputy Commissioner Pfutsero Phuleshe K Yepthomi in an order stated that in view of the emergency situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic and in exercise of the powers conferred by the Nagaland Epidemic Diseases COVID-19 Regulation 2020, and under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 Section-19 (VII & IX) and Section 65 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the JNV, Lewoza buildings and its premises has been requisitioned and will be kept at the disposal of the District Administration for use as Quarantine facility.

6. Assam Rifles conduct various activities

Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized a COVID-19 awareness program with faculty members of Little Laurattes Montessori School at Selouphe village on May 20, 2020. As part of event, posters on COVID-19 precautions were given out and pasted in the school premise. Essential ration was also provided to them.

Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted the District Administration in setting up of a quarantine facility at JNV School Chare, Tuensang. 30 beds were catered for inorder to facilitate stranded residents of the district, coming back from the other States.

With critical paucity of water in maintaining a10 bedded quarantine facility set up by residents of Tening, Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) supplied clean drinking water to keep the quarantine centre functional.

The Civil Administration and local populace appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles in providing them with necessary assistance.
