1. Briefing on COVID-19 on May 15, 2020 for Nagaland
The Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha, briefing on COVID-19 said that as of 4 P.M. today, a total of 910 samples have been sent for testing from the State. The results of 889 samples have been received and all have been tested negative. The results for the remaining 21 samples are awaited.
Today, a total of 6054 persons have been screened and a total of 957 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.
As of 4: 30 pm today, a total of 2,668 citizens of Nagaland presently outside the State, have voluntarily opted for staying back at their present places, and filled up the required form on the portal iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in for availing the One-time Assistance for Rs 10,000 (ten thousand).
Regarding arrival of stranded people into Nagaland from other North Eastern States, a total of 1,084 persons have already arrived till date, he added.
2. DC Dimapur orders ban on gutka, tobacco
In pursuance to the Chief Secretary Order on April 20, 2020, DC Dimapur Anoop Khinchi notified strict ban of Gutka, tobacco, etc. and prohibition of spitting in public. The DC therefore, cautioned that failure to comply with the order, legal action will be liable to be proceeded against as per Sec 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
3. Free Online Competition on the WED 2020
World Environment day (WED) is celebrated every year on June 05 to spread awareness and action for protection of environment. However, with the current scenario of COVID-19 pandemic, Rajkumar M. IFS, DFO Kohima made an announcement on May 15, 2020 that unlike the previous years, WED 2020 shall be responsibly observed maintaining social distancing.
In regards to this, he announced that a free online Competition on the WED 2020 theme “BIODIVERSITY” is invited for two sections- School children and Open section. For the School children section, categories of competition include paintings (for classes II to IV), Short Story (for classes V to VII), Poems (Classes VIII to X) and Poster (Classes XI to XII). For the Open section entries are invited for Paintings (Preferably with a traditional touch) and articles. All entries can be mailed at email@example.com on or before May 23, 2020.
4. Assam Rifles Conducted Various Activities
Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) as “Friends of the North East”, rushed and attended to a critical emergency accident case wherein a 27 years old person named Mr Thomas of M.Khel, Akhegwo village met with a motorcycle accident on the road Meluri-Akhegwo on May 14, 2020. The individual was immediately evacuated to the MI Room of COB Akhegwo and grievous injury over his face was sutured with eight stitches.
Also, Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) while providing assistance to the civil society and as part of its ongoing effort of reaching out to the needy, constructed temporary structures for rest and refreshment of migrant workers who were stranded outside due to COVID-19 and transported to Mon by District Administration on May 14, 2020. The District Administration, Red Cross Society and Konyak Union representative of Mon expressed gratitude and appreciated the humanitarian gesture of Assam Rifles during these testing times.
5. DC Dimapur distributes masks to the poor and needy
To create more awareness amongst the masses on the importance of wearing masks, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS, distributed washable cotton masks to the migrant workers and the poor and needy people in the streets of Dimapur city, today the 15th May 2020. Wearing of masks has become mandatory for all, as a preventive measure to fight the pandemic.
6. Block level and health unit level training for ASHA’s & AWW held
Block level and health unit level training for ASHA’s & AWW was held at PTWWO HALL Peren Town on May 15, 2020 with BAC, Ipungringle & DCM, Sekholu.
The training was held to disseminate the COVID-19 basics and contact tracing information to volunteers in every villages.The trainees were trained on contact listing, follow up of details of any person with travel history, duration of travel, house to house search in suspected COVID-19 cases in a cluster , listing down serial number of household and name of head of the family, total number of family, to provide details of symptomatic cases if found & complete patient name and address.
7. Minister Temjen Imna Along hands over PPEs
Nagaland Minister and State BJP President Shri Temjen Imna Along today handed over 20 sets of Made In Nagaland PPE suits, (manufactured at Government Polytechnic Kohima by Fashion Technology, Department of Technical Education, GoN), 1 fumigation machine and 400 litres of Sodium Hypochloride to Shri Limasunep Jamir IPS, IGP.
The battle will be long but we need to fight with patience and determination to win over COVID-19″, said a social media notification from Temjen Imna Along.
