Kohima, May 01 (NE): News bulletin from various sources and press releases by NagalandExpress on May 01, 2020 are as follows:

1.Briefing on COVID-19 as on May 01, 2020 for Nagaland

A total of 664 samples have been sent for testing from the State. The results of 650 samples have been received and all are negative. Results for 14 samples are awaited.

According to a briefing by Principal Secretary, Home, today a total of 1776 persons have been screened and 29 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine. The number of people of Nagaland, stranded or in distress outside the state, due to the Nationwide COVID-19 lockdown who have been given cash assistance has risen to 13,962, comprising of 10,298 working people, 3,510 students and 154 patients. The total amount disbursed is Rs. 5.48 Crores.

2. KMC administrator informs business establishment and institutions

KMC Administrator Kovi Meyase has informed all the business establishment and institutions within the Kohima Municipal Council jurisdiction that renewal of Trade License for the year April 01, 2020 to March 31, 2021 was put on hold due to lockdown imposed across the country due to COVID 19 pandemic.

He has notified that though KMC is working with few staff during this lockdown period, to facilitate the business community KMC will resume renewing the trade license w.e.f May 04, 2020.

3. Minister Pangnyu Phom visits Mokokchung COVID Hospital

State Health & family welfare (H&FW) Minister, S. Pangnyu Phom visited Dr. Imkongliba Memorial Civil Hospital Mokokchung on May 01, 2020 which at present is converted into COVID Hospital Mokokchung as preparation to combat the pandemic. The Minister inaugurated and handed over one Ambulance, with basic life support level and TRU NAT Kit for screening and testing COVID- 19 cases.

4. Advisor IPR visits Tuensang & Shamator

Advisor I&PR, VG, SCERT and Chairman DPDB Tuensang, Toshi Wongtung visited Shamator on May 01, 2020, and took stock of the situation from Task Force for Covid-19 Shamator. The Chairman of TFfC-19 Shamator Lankonsen Tsanglao ADC Shamator highlighted the immediate needs to the MLA and Advisor. The meeting was held in the presence of selected YTC, Public Forum Shamator, Chambers of Commerce, Shamator, Police, VG, 45AR, NDPP 58 A/C office bearers and Covid-19 Team Shamator.

Toshi Advisor and MLA also donated face masks, hand sanitizers, bathing soaps, fruits and vegetables, rice and other essential commodities.

5. DC Mon informs on emergency relief

Deputy Commissioner, Mon informed that a total amount of Rs.15,16,500 which was allotted to Mon District by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Kohima for emergency relief of the victims affected by recent storm was distributed and handed over to the victims on April 27, 2020 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall by the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DDMA, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS.

An amount of 4 lakhs each as ex -gratia was handed over to the family members of two people who passed away, Rs.1,01,900 to the victim of one fully damaged house, Rs.1,01,900 each to the victims of six severely damaged houses and Rs.3,200 to the owner of one partially damaged house.
