1. 4200 passengers screened at Dimapur Railway Station today

Passenger’s screening for Coronavirus at Dimapur Railway station started today. Speaking to NagalandExpress, Dr. Kainyu Konyak, District Epidemologist, Dimapur, informed that 4200 passengers were screened today, March 19, 2020 till around 06:00 pm.

2. NSRDD asked all the village functionaries to remain on alert

The Nagaland State Rural Development Department has asked all Village Development Boards and other village functionaries to remain alert to the risk posed by Novel Corona Virus, COVID-19. The village functionaries have been directed to immediately report to the District Administration about any causes of concern related to the symptoms of COVID-19 among any of its citizens.

3. NSF Martyrs Day on March, 20, 2020

NSF Martyrs Day to be observed on March, 20, 2020 at NSF Martyrs Park in Kohima.

NSF officials along with Angami Students’ Union (ASU) and All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) officials conducted a mass social work today, March 19, at NSF Martyrs Park in preparation of the upcoming NSF Martyrs Day.

4. Sunrise service at Kohima World War II Memorial on Easter Sunday cancelled

President of Kohima Town Baptist Pastors Fellowship, Rev. Kevichalie appreciated the State Government for taking positive steps towards containing the spread of the virus in the State.

During the emergency meeting called by the Special Action Group on COVID-19 under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary and Home Commissioner Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, IAS, today, March 19, 2020, Rev. Kevichalie informed the meeting that the usually held Sunrise service at Kohima World War II Memorial during Easter Sunday has been cancelled due to outbreak of COVID-19.

5. CM Rio appeals to people returning home from COVID19 affected areas

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio appeals to the people of Nagaland returning from COVID19 affected areas, especially, students coming back home to contact helpline 7005435243/ 9856071745/ 7005539653, Toll Free number- 1070 or email at and also requested them to self-quarantine for their own safety and for loved ones.

6. Number of CoronaVirus cases rises to 167 in India

Total number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country has now reached 167 as on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Out of these 167 cases, 25 are foreign nationals and four persons who died in Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab.
